GIVING BACK, ADVOCACY & PUBLIC SPEAKING
Emily is a strong believer in helping people young and old, as well as giving back to her community.
As a fifth year Girl Scout she spends time working with younger scouts in teaching them new skills, donates time to Animal Shelters and is involved in many other aspects of community service. She sings once a month at assisted living facilities, often the memory units with introverted patients, and is known for getting them to engage in song and dance. One of the causes near and dear to Emily's heart is the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Since Emily was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2014, she has felt strongly about being involved in this organization any way she can. With her music video WARRIOR, she has raised awareness about Type 1 Diabetes and its symptoms and has inspired diabetics in and out of the U.S. in countries such as Canada, Australia, and England. In 2016 Emily was selected by the JDRF to be a "Youth Ambassador" and now assists the organization whenever needed. She is also heading up a fundraising team in the upcoming JDRF WALK FOR A CURE. One of Emily's goals for 2017 is to create a CONCERT where she and her friends can entertain and donate the proceeds to organizations like the JDFR and Diabetes Research Institute to help fund a cure. |
Emily performed for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation annual GALA as a Youth Ambassador
This song inspired Emily to tell her own story through song and to continue to pursue her dreams despite having to live with "Type 1 Diabetes". Emily released this cover on her diabetes diagnosis anniversary to celebrate her strength and to remind others that Diabetes doesn't own them! Please watch after credits for some information on how to detect symptoms of Type one Diabetes. Please share this video in the hopes it will inspire others to reach for their dreams no matter what the obstacle.
